Shrink the black region when the average intensity of the region is over 128 , and shrink the white regions when the average intensity of the region is less than 128: A normalized score defined for each pixel of a connected components based on its distant to the origin of the growth. Keep a pixel of a connected component if the score is smaller than a threshold {0.8, 0.5} for this examples which means 20% and 50% shrunk of regions. This way we keep the signals close to the center of the regions. However, we may lose some of the high frequency details sitting far from the origin of the growth.
